Creating Leads Through Technology: Are Real Estate Agents Behind the Digital Curve?

A white paper study by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ re_think Council leadership.

The national re_think Council kicked off 2017 at the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ corporate office in Irvine, CA for a two-day conference of collaboration and learning. Council members wanted to dive deeper into what makes them successful and went back to the basics. Instead of focusing on next-level tools, the Council unanimously agreed it’s not about technology; it’s about leveraging technology to streamline a profitable business. This white paper, “Creating Leads Through Technology: Are Real Estate Agents Behind the Digital Curve?,” covers the national re_think Council leaderships’ findings to take lead generation to the next level. Read it today.

Jake Breen Joins National REthink Council as Broker Advisor

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, part of the HSF Affiliates LLC family of real estate brokerage networks, recently announced Jake Breen, managing broker at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Utah Properties, has joined the national Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices REthink Council as a broker advisor.

The national REthink Council, a millennial think tank formed in 2013, connects and inspires motivated leaders in real estate; it creates resources and tools to enhance the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices network and provides feedback to more than 25 local REthink Council chapters around the country as well as to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices leadership.

Breen, who was previously a national member of REthink, will serve along with Vince Leisey, broker/president of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate and broker advisor to the national council. Together Breen and Leisey will help guide the 15 top-producing members of REthink Council as they brainstorm ideas to move the brokerage network—and real estate industry—forward.

“The REthink Council provides an excellent setting to allow these top-producing Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices agents to better themselves,” said Breen. “There is power in like-minded people who are motivated to get together and discuss the latest industry trends, best practices and the future of our industry.”

Gino Blefari, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, congratulated Breen on the position. “Jake is a forward-thinking real estate leader who will help our national REthink Council members succeed.”

Thoughts on Leadership: Rethinking Your Perspective

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels find me in Irvine, CA and the trip to Southern California has afforded me a healthy dose of perspective. On Tuesday morning, I moderated a lively Book REview session—if you don’t know, Book REview is our quarterly online discussion of a business book—then sat in meetings with our national REthink Council for the next two days.

For me, reading (and listening) to books is a way of life. I’m never NOT starting a new book. Why? Because new eyes see old things in new ways. Reading about the perspectives of others helps broaden, sharpen and focus your own. Our book for this week’s Book REview was The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson, all about small changes (I call them small wins) you can make to ultimately drive big results. Olson also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive mindset from the minute you wake up so that lasting success is less of an uncertainty and more of an inevitability.

Victor Quiroz Breaks it Down: The Importance of Being Mentored

By Crescent Seward

Victor Quiroz, sales manager at Covina, CA-based Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and former national REthink Council member, answered the phone after only one ring. It was early on a Monday morning, the day after attending an Oakland Raiders football game (they won, by the way). I knew he was traveling and probably had a long night celebrating the win but he answered chipper and ready to share with me his takeaways from a recent mentoring experience he had in Philadelphia.

Thursday Thoughts on Leadership: An Uber Idea

This week my travels find me in Boca Raton, FL but instead of talking about my meetings in the Sunshine State, I want to instead share a brilliant marketing idea I discovered on a recent trip to Dallas. The idea brings to light the importance of creative disruption and how in business you must develop, consider, reconsider, refine and modify any proposed solution to a problem in order to achieve sustainable success.

Working Around Your Buyer’s Unusual Schedule

By Phillip MacArthur

This year, while attending the 2016 Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Summit Conference in Palm Springs, CA, I heard a reoccurring theme from my colleagues: How do you work with a buyer whose hours aren’t the typical 9-5?

In my experience, these buyers tend to be entrepreneurs, police officers, financiers, small business owners and healthcare professionals, whose jobs mandate they work early in the morning or late into the night. As their trusted real estate agents, we must adjust. But how?

Here are a few tips that have helped me manage these atypical clients. My advice:

The Revelation of Finding Your HOME

By Erin Heider

I’ve had many buyers ask this question: How will I know when a home is the one?

Here’s my answer: It may take viewing 10 or 100 houses (hopefully the number is closer to 10), but when you know, you’ll know. And I, as the real estate agent, will pick up on signs that let me know you’re certain about a certain property. It’s one of my favorite moments in the home-buying transaction; the special day when I’m able to help find someone a HOME.

What are the clues I pick up on that you’ve found the house that will be your home? Here are three …

Creative Marketing: How an Instagram Takeover Can Boost Your Business

By Crescent Seward

It’s no secret Instagram is a wildly popular social media tool for real estate agents, and not only to share gorgeous listing photos but also to generate leads. For years now, agents have gravitated toward visual-friendly Instagram as a powerful mobile platform to market themselves and their businesses. But the world of social media moves faster than you can say “new Snapchat filters” and now, it’s time to mix things up.
