THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP: STORIES OF THE LAST DANCE

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels virtually found me participating in the all-company meeting with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate on Tuesday as well as a Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices alignment session followed by an all-company meeting with the team at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties and finally, a Sales Convention 2021 input call to finish a busy day. On Wednesday, I had a HomeServices of America board meeting and today, I’m on round three of contingency plan calls with our CEOs and CFOs.

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP: REMEMBERING DON SHULA

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels find me, well, at home, but virtually connected to our leaders across the globe. On Monday, I kicked off CEO 4DX WIG calls, the beginning of a cadence of regular accountability where execution really happens. These regular and frequent meetings are for teams that own their Wildly Important Goals. On this initial call, I had our CEOs report out on seven of eight items—things like “My WIG for last week was ____ and the result was ____,” “My WIG for this week is _____,” “My lead measure for this week’s WIGS are …” and more. If you haven’t started doing weekly 4DX WIG calls with your team, take this blog post as a reminder to implement them now. They’ll be a gamechanger for producing results despite the whirlwind of all the challenges leaders today face.

Thoughts on Leadership: The Opportunity in Challenges

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels find me … at home. (Although I did make the trek just now from my backyard to my home office to write this post.) As I sit at my desk, in the home I’ve been working out of for weeks now—just like you—I’m reminded of the concept that the bigger the challenge, the greater the opportunity. And we’re facing one of the biggest challenges our industry and world has ever known.

Thoughts on Leadership: Effective Leadership in Challenging Times

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels find me at home, just as you are. And while we’re at home we can still work diligently on creating better versions of ourselves and honing our abilities to lead. I’ve been listening to a great book, “The Leadership Challenge” by James M. Kouzes (Dean’s Executive Fellow of Leadership, Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University) and Barry Z. Posner (Dean of Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University). The book is now in its sixth edition and the book is so good that every time a new edition came out, I started from the beginning and re-listened to it. In fact, the ideas put forth by Kouzes and Posner about effective leadership during challenging times have never been more applicable.

Thoughts on Leadership: Leading through Uncertainty

This week my travels find me exactly where you are – home, in virtual meetings and conference calls as we take the current situation with COVID-19 one step at a time, one day at a time and as a collective, working together to find solutions for a brighter tomorrow.

Thoughts on Leadership: Habits for Wealth

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels first found me in Northern California, specifically in Cupertino having my Saturday morning breakfast with my good friend Johnnie Johnson (former All-Pro defensive back for the Los Angeles Rams) and we were joined by another good friend of ours, NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott. (We were tackling life … and our hearty breakfasts … and thankfully, nobody tackled me.) Together, we reminisced about our beloved friend Dwight Clark, who is deeply missed by us all.

Next it was off to Southern California to our HSF Affiliates headquarters office for meetings with prospective franchisees, a leadership meeting and Town Hall with the team. During the Town Hall, I delivered a presentation based on Tom Corley’s book, Rich Habits: The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals. Corley spent years studying the difference between the habits of the rich and the poor. On the rich side, he analyzed the habits of those with annual gross income north of $160,000 and net liquid assets of $3.2 million or more.

Today for our weekly blog post, I’d like to share 16 habits gleaned from this wealthy population, and, as the best-selling author says, they will help you reach and maintain your wealth potential:
