THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP: FINISH THE YEAR STRONG

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels found me at home, beginning Monday with my typical WIG calls. On Tuesday, I attended the Weekly Berkshire Hathaway Energy President’s Meeting and hosted our HomeServices of America monthly CEO Leadership Meeting. On Wednesday, I presented Mindset Leadership Amid COVID-19 to the entire team at ReeceNichols followed by a presentation of 4DX Tune-Up to the HomeServices of America Marketing/IT Conference attendees. This afternoon I presented Mindset Leadership Amid COVID-19 to more than 10 incredible Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brokerages from Anchorage, Alaska to the Big Apple.

As many teams dart, charge and race toward the finish line of 2020, they may find difficulty staying focused. Thanksgiving arrives next week in all its turkey and sweet-potato glory. Then, the heart of the holiday season follows soon after. In all the festive chaos, the typical whirlwind that throws off your daily plans turns into a veritable storm of tasks to get done. To stay focused and goal-oriented, here are a few ideas to help you out:

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP: GOOD TIMES & GOALS

By Gino Blefari

This week my homebound travels found me starting off with my typical Monday, which meant participating on WIG calls with our committed leaders. On Tuesday, I attended the weekly Berkshire Hathaway Energy meeting and yesterday, I conducted an HSF Affiliates Business Consultant training session on 4DX and the value of preparing a daily “Top 7,” or a list of the most important seven tasks you’ll accomplish that day.

But for this week’s post, I want to rewind the clock back to Friday … and then rewind it way back to my first year as a real estate agent. Let’s start with Friday, when I was invited to be a guest by Rishi Bakshi for the virtual Intero Happy Hour that included managers, staff and agents.

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP: REMEMBERING DON SHULA

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels find me, well, at home, but virtually connected to our leaders across the globe. On Monday, I kicked off CEO 4DX WIG calls, the beginning of a cadence of regular accountability where execution really happens. These regular and frequent meetings are for teams that own their Wildly Important Goals. On this initial call, I had our CEOs report out on seven of eight items—things like “My WIG for last week was ____ and the result was ____,” “My WIG for this week is _____,” “My lead measure for this week’s WIGS are …” and more. If you haven’t started doing weekly 4DX WIG calls with your team, take this blog post as a reminder to implement them now. They’ll be a gamechanger for producing results despite the whirlwind of all the challenges leaders today face.

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP: STRENGTHENING YOUR TEAM

This week my travels find me … (say it with me) home. I’m virtually meeting with team members, taking conference calls and joining Zoom discussions with leaders around the world. Besides the whirlwind, I participated in a Facebook and Zoom livestream with our network’s No.1 company, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS®. On Tuesday, I was with our Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices global leaders. I was on with Toronto, Porto, Lisbon, Vilamoura, Algarve, Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Madrid, Milan, Piacenza, Dubai and London. On Wednesday I participated in a joint all-company training with Roberts Brothers and RealtySouth. I also virtually met with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago for a company-wide Town Hall. Finally, today I was honored to join Chris Stuart in the Facebook Live “Forever Forum.”

By Gino Blefari

This week my travels found me in the Pacific Northwest – Seattle on Tuesday, Portland on Wednesday and Eugene, Oregon on Thursday for awards ceremonies with agents from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northwest Real Estate and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Real Estate Professionals, led by president and CEO Jason Waugh. As I celebrated the achievements of these teams across the Pacific Northwest, I was reminded about the importance of taking time to understand the mental dexterity necessary to accomplish your goals.

This week my travels find me in Northern California, taking meetings, participating in conference calls and helping our teams achieve their goals faster than they would in my absence. Thoughts on Leadership: Owning Your Goals

By Gino Blefari

“Goals. There’s no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There’s no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there’s no telling what will happen when you act upon them.” – Jim Rohn

This week my travels find me in Dallas at the MidAmerican Energy National Sales Meeting. I was invited to speak by Ed McGreen, president of MidAmerican Energy Services, LLC a Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company. It’s been an honor to share my knowledge with such inspired and dedicated sales professionals who thrive on goal setting and more importantly, owning those goals to completion.

Thoughts on Leadership: New Year, Same Follow Up

This week my travels find me in Northern California, reviewing my goals and flipping through the pages of my journal. In late December, during that expected lull just after the jolly whirlwind of the holidays temporarily dims, right before the excitement of New Year’s Eve begins, I always grab my journal and go through each entry. As I review, I note what I’ve accomplished and what still needs to be completed before the clock strikes midnight on a brand-new year.
